Frequently Asked Questions
About our tours
Are your tours private?
Yes — every tour we run is private. It's just you and your group with your own local guide, never a mixed walking group. That means a flexible pace and an itinerary we can adapt to your interests.
What languages do you offer tours in?
English and German. Both are led by local guides, not translators — so you get the same depth of knowledge and storytelling in either language.
Where do the tours start? Do you offer hotel pickup?
City walking tours start at a central meeting point we agree in advance (for example, the Athénée Palace / InterContinental area for the food tour). Day trips and multi-day Romania tours include pickup from your accommodation.
Do you run day trips from Bucharest?
Yes. Popular options include Transylvania and the castles, Peleș Castle, and the salt mine with countryside villages. We also offer multi-day private tours across Romania.
Can the tour be customised to what I want to see?
Absolutely. Because every tour is private, we tailor the route and focus to your interests — history, food, Jewish heritage, architecture, or a mix. Just tell us what you are curious about.
How much do your tours cost?
Bucharest tours have fixed per-group prices shown on each tour's page. Day trips and multi-day Romania tours are quoted on request, based on your group size and itinerary. Get in touch for a quote.
How do I book a tour?
Get in touch through the contact form on our website or by phone (+40 723 796 992). Tell us your dates, group size, and what you would like to see, and we will confirm availability.
Are the tours suitable for families and children?
Yes — our private format works well for families. We adjust the pace, walking distance, and content to suit children, and Romania is a very family-friendly destination.
Visiting Romania
What is Romania best known for?
Plenty: the Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest (the heaviest building on Earth), the medieval Saxon towns and castles of Transylvania — including the Dracula legend — the painted monasteries of Bucovina, the wildlife of the Danube Delta, and a rich tradition of folk culture and food. The gymnast Nadia Comăneci, the first to score a perfect 10 at the Olympics, is Romanian too.
When is the best time to visit Romania?
Romania has four distinct seasons. Spring and autumn are ideal for Bucharest and city sightseeing, with mild weather and beautiful light. Summer is best for Transylvania, Bucovina, and the mountains, and the most active season in the Danube Delta. Winter brings snow to the mountains, fewer crowds in the cities, and wonderful Christmas traditions in the countryside.
Is Romania a good destination for families?
Very much so. Romanians are welcoming to children, and the countryside offers farm visits, traditional crafts, gentle hikes, and fairy-tale castles. Cities have parks, zoos, and thermal water parks.
Is Romania safe for tourists?
Yes. Romania is consistently ranked among the safer countries in Europe, with low rates of violent crime, and visitors are warmly received. As anywhere, take the usual precautions against pickpocketing in busy tourist areas.
Are there any local customs I should be aware of?
Romania is a European country with familiar etiquette. When visiting churches and monasteries, dress modestly — covered shoulders and knees, with wraps often provided. Rural communities tend to be more traditional and appreciate respectful, low-key behaviour. Otherwise, ordinary courtesy is all you need.
Is it safe to travel to Romania right now?
Yes. Romania is a stable European Union and NATO member, and tourism operates completely normally. It is a welcoming, well-connected destination that is easy and safe to visit year-round.
